Honor Award – Walter P Moore, Kansas City
Project: Daily’s Place at EverBank Field
Daily’s Place extends the vitality of the home of the Jacksonville Jaguar’s EverBank Field beyond the stadium’s walls. This first-of its-kind, multi-purpose facility includes a 5,500 seat amphitheater and a 94,000 SF practice facility with flexibility to hold a variety of events provided by 50’ tall rolling doors. Project architect Populous used Jacksonville’s estuaries and long-span steel truss bridges as inspiration. The resulting form was a blend of structure and architecture with a single, long-span PTFE membrane roof covering the field and amphitheater. The iconic design combining complex structural geometry and non-traditional enclosure materials presented a significant challenge to the project structural engineer. Walter P Moore developed an integrated digital workflow that blurred the lines between architecture, engineering, material procurement, and construction activities, saving valuable time over more traditional delivery methods.
