Project: Lemay Wastewater Treatment Plant Secondary Improvements
Client: Metropolitan St. Louis Sewer District
The Metropolitan St. Louis Sewer District selected Black & Veatch to help them achieve three essential goals for the Lemay WWTP Secondary Improvements project: 1) Increase the plant capacity from 167 to 210 million gallons per day. To achieve this goal, new fine screening facilities were constructed to remove valve clogging material from the plant flow to increase the plant’s hydraulic capacity and new aeration equipment was installed in two of the plants basins to increase the treatment capacity. 2) Design the facility improvements that could be constructed while the existing plant operated at full capacity. Detailed specifications were developed to describe the bypass and bulkhead scenarios necessary to complete work in twenty different treatment basins and channels and achieve this goal. 3) Complete the project in less than 3 years to meet Consent Decree requirements. The project was completed on schedule and exceeded the treatment capacity requirements.
