Firm Name:

Burns & McDonnell Engineering Company, Inc., Chesterfield

Project Name:
New Chilled Water Plant: Meeting Mizzou’s Future

Client:
University of Missouri
Burns & McDonnell provided full Engineering and Architectural design services for the New Chilled Water Plant on the Columbia campus of University of Missouri. In addition to design, Burns & McDonnell contributed to pre-design planning for plant configuration, site, and capacity. Modern 3D building modeling manipulated plant components, resulting in a design that maintained architectural continuity with the campus, while streamlining operational and maintenance requirements of the facility. This unique approach was groundbreaking for central utility plant design, and has become a cornerstone at Burns & McDonnell for similar projects. The East Campus Chiller Plant (ECCP) is distinct from other plants because it is cost effective, efficient, and easy to maintain, while blending into the flagship campus and producing significant future value for University of Missouri, and the public. The ECCP breaks the mold for centralized utility plants.
